The Team

As a Community Interest Company, Cymoedd Creadigol is governed by a board of volunteer directors. 

Our directors are creative professionals in their own right and form a small part of our creative facilitator network. 

Thomas Door vice-chair

Expertise: Thom is a qualified teacher with a degree in the Creative Arts. Thom has a wide range of experience working within schools and the community. A talented artist who's work was chosen by Pete Fowler to displayed at the Millennium Centre. Thom has a real passion and flair for Welsh culture and history and supporting young people. Workshops offered;

Rachel Stephens Director

Expertise: Rachel has a degree in the Performing Arts and Vocal Performance having studied at Trinity St Davids. A finalist in the BBC's 'all together now' Rachel was instrumental in developing Aelwyd Cwm Rhondda, the first Aelwyd in the Rhondda Valleys for over 50 years. Now the musical director at Aelwyd Cwm Rhondda, Rachel has had a significant impact on Welsh language and culture in the area and is a familiar face in creative circles. An accomplished performer and facilitator. Workshops Offered;

May Baxter-Thornton - Creative Voices Project Manager

Expertise: Tom is a qualified teacher and youth worker with a degree in Film and Television production. He has vast experience working with communities and young people from all backgrounds. In 2018 Tom receive Nation Radio's Pride of Wales Gold Award for his commitment to safeguarding services for young people.  Workshops offered;

Expertise: Abril holds a degree as a Creative and Therapeutic Arts facilitator and has a wide range of experience working in communities and with children and young people. She has an exciting and creative flair for engaging communities and is a fluent Spanish Speaker. Courses Offered; 

*Arts for Wellbeing *Creative Arts *Therapeutic Arts *Creative Dance *Spanish for Beginners *Artistic Filmmaking *Expression through art. 

Expertise:  May was born in Rhondda Cynon Taf and has a BA (Hons) in Photography, Video and Digital Imaging, achieved from the University of Sunderland.  May has worked as a Community Artist in Washington, Tyne and Wear, working with women and children fleeing domestic abuse and has also worked as a project worker in women's refuges in the North East of England for over a decade. 

 

May leads the Creative Voices project, which is a lived experienced leaders project funded by the lottery.  Creative Voices aims to enable lived experience leaders to excel, succeed and create positive change. As a survivor of child sexual abuse, May is a lived experience leader who also works as a consultant to both the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) and the Centre of Expertise in Child Sexual abuse. 

Daniel Thomas Treasurer

Expertise: Dan brings a very diverse set of skills to the board. Dan has a degree in Business Administration and has vast experience managing accounts, payroll and finances. Dan is a welcome addition and adds much needed business acumen to the creative skillset.
